The Operator’s Lens – About this Blog!Hello world!

Hi, I’m Saad Qureshi — a manufacturing leader, problem-solver, and lifelong learner navigating the complex world of operations, machines, systems, and people.

I started out as a mechanical engineer, fascinated by how things work. But my journey quickly evolved beyond blueprints and machines — into data, processes, and people. Today, I work at the intersection of operations management, quality, automation, and continuous improvement, leading teams and driving change on the factory floor and beyond.

Currently serving as Assistant General Manager at a manufacturing plant, I’ve worn many hats:
✔️ Quality Engineer
✔️ System Analyst
✔️ Process Improver
✔️ Strategic Planner
✔️ Data Wrangler

But more than titles, I’ve built my foundation on solving real problems — whether it’s improving production efficiency, implementing better reporting systems, building KPIs that actually mean something, or using Python to simulate machine layouts and operator movements.

Why This Blog?

This blog is a space for me to slow down and make sense of everything I’ve experienced — and continue to experience — in the world of work, systems, and personal growth.

It’s where I capture thoughts that don’t fit neatly into reports or meetings. Some of it will be about factories and operations, yes. But some of it might be about decision-making, learning curves, leadership lessons, or even just how it feels to grow into bigger responsibilities without losing your sense of purpose.

I don’t have all the answers — but I believe there’s value in sharing the process of figuring things out.

If you’re someone who’s also thinking deeply about how things run — whether in manufacturing, management, or just life — maybe you’ll find something here that clicks.

What to Expect

  • Stories from the shop floor
  • Explorations in Python, SQL, Excel, and simulation tools
  • Honest thoughts on leadership, decision-making, and team dynamics
  • Experiments with industrial automation and MES systems
  • Book notes and breakdowns
  • Maybe even a few detours into history, systems thinking, or photography (because I do enjoy a good lens, both metaphorically and literally)

…Whether it’s a machine, a process, or a mindset — I believe anything can be improved if you take the time to truly understand it.

“A bad system will beat a good person every time.”
— W. Edwards Deming

Let’s connect through the lens of curiosity, operations, and continuous improvement.
Welcome to the journey.
